Two Electra Townie 8i Low-Step E-Bikes on a Thule EasyFold XT

This blog describes how two Townie 8i / Low-Step E Bikes with Bosch mid drives load and fit on a Thule EasyFold XT.  You can see that the bikes comfortably fit on the platform.

The pedal angle of the inside bike is not at the optimal angle in this picture.

Why a Platform Rack?

  1. The low step bikes don't have a crossbar to hang them from.
  2. The bikes weigh more than the average bike even with the batteries removed.  The EasyFold is rated for the e-bike weight.

Loading Hints

  1. Remove the batteries.
    1. The locking bar for the outside bike has to go between the bars of the bike loaded closest to the car.  See the picture.
  2. Set the pedal angle of the bike closest to the car with the pedal towards the car in the up position.
  3. The pedal angle of the outside bike can be set so that it does not bang the battery mounting bracket if you do this

Outside bike pedal angle is flexible in this situation

Capital One Arena Etihad Airways Lounge

The Etihad Airways Lounge is a limited-access venue on the Event level, 2-3 flights of stairs from the main concourse level.  Lounge access comes with some seats or can be purchased at certain times as part of packages.  I got one-time access as part of a ticket charity auction. You can gain access to the event via the stairwell opposite aisle 108 on the concourse level.  It feels like 3 flights of stairs going down. There is also an elevator at the top of the stairs on the concourse level. There was an elevator operator in the elevator the day we went.  It feels like the venue was jammed into some empty place under the event floor but it still works. They scan your lounge pass at the entrance and then give you a wristband that you use for later access.  This was a fast process.  The scanning entry area is small and I could see people getting caught on the stairs if they came in closer to game time.   The lounge opened about 1 hour before the game...

What's to eat at Merriweather Post Pavilion

Merriweather Post Pavillion is an outdoor music venue in Columbia Maryland. http://www.merriweathermusic.com/ Merriweather Post Pavillion has more food and refreshment options than a lot of venues we've been too. This sign shows the types of food and where they are located.  The next picture shows the other half of the billboard with a map to each of the locations.  I forgot to take picture of the lower right of the directory. Folks looking for beer, mixed drinks, frozen drinks and other alcoholic beverages will have to do their own scouting. Merriweather Post Pavilion Food and drink map.

The Hamilton DC - Good food and Entertainment Venue

A trip to The Hamilton is the latest in our "experience more of DC" experiment.  This place is run by the Clydes Group and should be getting more positive buzz. It has a lot going for it.  The restaurant is spacious.  The bar is big with several sections.  The downstairs entertainment venue is one of the nicest in the area.  The upstairs loft is small but has the advantage of often having live entertainment. They also have a small sushi bar.The food is delicious. Location The Hamilton is located on 14th street between F and G. The main entrance is in the center of the block on F.  You can use the Metro.  Get off at Metro Center and come out the 13th and G exit. Walk the 1/2 block to F Street.  There is a bar entrance on the corner at F and 14th.  Walk past that to the the entrance on the middle of the block if you are going for the restaurant, basement entertainment or the Loft.  You can walk through the bar from the corner entra...
